Mission

If you are interested in a career as a pilot, or aircraft mechanic, then consider Missionary Aviation. What would be more satisfying than flying and maintaining aircraft to serve God and help his people in remote areas by delivering materials to build wells, medicine to save lives, or deploying Missionaries to spread the gospel to save souls?

On average, it takes about ten years to train and qualify as a Missionary Pilot/Mechanic. Pilots are usually required to have an Airframe and Powerplant license too so you will need to consider going to school to become an aircraft mechanic, but some organizations will hire you as a pilot or mechanic. There are a few organizations out there that will help you pay for your training so you will want to visit our resource page and contact the various places to see what they have to offer.

Classes in Theology are often required too, so check with your community college to see if they offer a course and tackle that early on during your flight training.
In Missionary Aviation you will be responsible for raising money to support yourself while serving, but there are a few exceptions so do your research. Organizations that require you to raise funds will usually teach you how to raise funds, and then help you get started. Some organizations have retirement plans as well so be sure to ask!

As you can see it takes a lot of time to become qualified to work in the field and it can be overwhelming at times. There are people in our FaceBook group that are willing to offer advice if you ask.
